Delegates, I am beyond thrilled to serve as your Media Editor in Chief for the 71st Alabama YMCA Youth in Government. I have had the amazing opportunity to participate in ALYIG for four years now.
This program has taught me so much and has definitely helped shape me into who I am today. One of the most important ideas I have grown to learn has proven to be the value of learning from people. The beauty of this conference lies in its unmatched ability to bring such a diverse group of students together, regionally as well as ideologically. We have all come to participate in furthering our knowledge and passion for government but let us not underestimate the power of simply taking the chance to look through another person’s eyes.
My goal for media this year is to ensure that every voice is heard and that every person is seen. When we meet and hear from those significantly different than ourselves, we have the opportunity to grow our perspectives and, consequently, grow as individuals. The media staff and I will be hard at work to ensure all the amazing moments to come are well documented, and I cannot wait for you all to see what we have in store! I hope that everyone has the time of their life, and I look forward to serving you all this weekend.
