Debate in the Senate has been exciting to watch throughout the day. As debate continues, we have heard from some outstanding delegates with fantastic arguments. Due to a smaller number of members in the Senate, we have experienced more lively debate. Senator Vincent Indovina had an intriguing bill about relocating coal ash pits to prevent water contamination and protect the health of Alabama’s citizens. Indovina’s bill passed and is an example of how we must be diligent and not turn a blind eye to the environmental issues in Alabama. Another highlight was a bill decriminalizing drug offenses and focusing on rehabilitation for offenders. The debate today in the Senate was nothing short of thought provoking. The virtual situation was handled with ease and everyone adapted to the new format. At the end of the day, this is one of the best things people can take from this. We must be able to handle adversity and overcome challenges.
