All Judges, with the exception of the Chief Justice, will be appointed. Please see the information below to apply for a position as a Judge.

Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year’s previous Alabama YMCA Youth Judicial experience
  • At least a sophomore in High School (in Fall)
  • Ability to speak in public extemporaneously
  • Knowledge of Alabama Law Knowledge of courtroom procedure
  • Personality, Appearances, Dress, Poise and Good Voice
  • Member of an affiliated Student YMCA of Government Club

Process

Step one:  Applications Close March 26, 2020

Apply Online

– Basic contact info
– Answer a few questions
– Upload headshot photo
– Submit link to a video where they are speaking to a group or answering the question “Why do you want to be a judge?”

Step two: TBD
Online Quiz – candidates will be sent a weblink to an online quiz

Application Review: TBD
A committee will review and score applications – YMCA Staff will review and approve the final list

Notification: TBD
Applicants will be notified if they are selected as a judge, alternate, or not selected
