Greetings! If you are interested in volunteering for the upcoming YMCA Youth Judicial Conference please sign up below.
This year’s conference will take place Saturday, November 1 to Monday, November 3. Volunteers are needed Saturday and Sunday. Check in about 15 minutes before your shift at the Federal Courthouse (1 Church Street, Montgomery, AL) unless told otherwise. You will receive an email with instructions about one week prior to the conference.
Available Positions are:
Courtroom Observer
Responsible for watching a trial and completing an evaluation form, as well as ensuring all the participants are adhering the courthouse rules. Preferably an Attorney, Judge, Law Student, etc. Time Slots: Saturday 1:15 – 3:15 or 3:00 – 5:00; Sunday 1:15 – 3:15 or 2:45 – 4:45 Positions Needed: 10 each time slot (Note: You may want to review this year’s case as well as the rules prior to arrival).
Meal time Volunteer
Assist the YMCA Staff in feeding the participants. Time Slots: Saturday 5 PM – 7:30 PM or Sunday 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM Positions Needed: 2-3 each time slot
Welcome Desk
Welcome and Register visitors, direct visitors, fill in where needed, etc. Time Slots: Saturday 1:00 – 4:00 PM; 4:00 – 7:00 PM – Sunday 8:00 – 11:00 AM, 11:00 – 2:00 PM; 2:00 – 5:00 PM; 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Positions needed: 1-2 per slot
