The 2015 chief justice candidates participated in a candidate forum Saturday. What follows is a summary of their remarks.

Judge Jim Schillaci was introduced by Christina McLaughlin. Schillaci joked that he originally was interested in a mock trial because he thought there would be Twinkies. As he grew in the program, he said he found friendships and valuable experiences surrounding politics and the judicial system. He served as a bailiff freshman year.

Before her speech, Judge Jordan Scaturo she was introduced by William Chandler. Chandler said Scaturo has worked tirelessly to earn this position and few deserve it as much as she does. Scaturo said she was motivated to run for chief justice because of her experiences throughout the Youth Judicial program. She also said she loves working and meeting new people and has met many friends because of this program. Scaturo said she tries to have a positive attitude in everything she does and always do her best.

Noah McNelley introduced Judge Gabbi Pohlman. He lauded her for her strong work ethic. Pohlman said she has had many honors over her time at Youth Judicial. Last year, she won outstanding attorney. Another year she on one of the Top 10 teams, and she was on the Supreme Court for Youth Legislature. She also said that she was extremely nervous when she first started doing Youth Judicial, but over the course of the program, she has gained a lot of confidence. Pohlman said she wants to extend this opportunity to others.

A goal of hers is to make the Supreme Court well known and not feared.
