I feel I am the best candidate for the position of House Pro-Temp because I have the experience. I served as First Year Pro-Temp and as a judge at this past Judicial. I also feel I am the best candidate because I am passionate in everything I do and I realize that this position would not be about me, but about serving each individual at the conference to the best of my ability. #prideforthepeople

I believe that I am the best candidate to be the 2017 House Pro Temp because of my unique passion for Youth in Government. I truly believe that the YMCA Youth In Government program is one of the most enriching programs available to high schoolers. It has improved my high school experience so much, and through it I have improved my social, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Because of all of these qualities of this program, I want to give back. I’ve been involved in Youth in Government since 8th grade, my first year in the Major League of Youth Judicial. Ever since that year, I have wanted to be an officer. I got to watch Bea Tisher serve as Chief Justice, and if any of you know Bea, she worked VERY hard for this program. That made me realize how much students have the opportunity to give back, and I want that opportunity. I think I can work harder than anyone else running because of my love for this program.

I believe I am the best person for this office because I am dependable, reliable, and have a heart for helping others. I have held many leadership roles in the past and receive personal satisfaction from serving others. I attended Officers Training this January and I am aware of the requirements and obligations necessary to fulfill for this office.

The First Year Chamber at Youth Legislature is such an important part of building the future for this program. Participants in First Year Chamber are at the conference to learn more about the program as a whole and to decide if this is worth their while. A good presiding officer is understanding, helpful, and approachable. I understand how nervous new participants are and how hard it is to stand up in front of people and speak what they are passionate about. I want to help those who are undecided about the program get the experience and confidence they need to continue in the Youth Legislature Program. I want to be the one that the new participants want to ask questions to, and I will be there with their answers. The future of the program starts with the First Year Chamber, and if elected, I promise I will be there not only to help with the understanding of how our Legislative Branch works, but also I will assure the First Years have fun, make new friends, and learn other skills while doing it.
